Outstanding track competitor for EMU... Won numerous titles as a collegian and set World and American records in the 70-yard dash, the 75-yard dash and the 60-yard low hurdles in 1949... Set EMU records in the 100-yard dash in :09.6 and in the broad jump at 24-feet-2 inches... Competed in the 1948 Olympic Trials... Enjoyed a tremendous high school career and he was the 1944 state champion in the 120-yard hurdles and also set a record in the 200-yard low hurdles... Scored 19 points by himself to help his team place fifth in the state meet... Spent more than 25 years as a teacher, counselor and administrator in the Ann Arbor Public School system.
