An outstanding women's track competitor from 1989-92...Earned All-American honors five times...Became EMU's first national champion in women's track when she won the 800-meter run at the 1992 NCAA Indoor Championships in a time of 2:03.47, the fastest time by a woman collegian that season...Finished second in the 800 meters at the 1991 NCAA Indoor Championships...Finished sixth in the 800 meters at the 1990 NCAA Outdoor Championships and was fourth in that event in the 1991, and 1992 outdoor meets...Won five individual and three relay championships in the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships, winning the 800 meters and the 1500 meters in 1991 and 1992 while also capturing the 800 meter title in 1990...Ran on the 1600-meter relay team that won MAC outdoor titles in 1990, 1991 and 1992...Was named MAC Athlete of the Year in 1991, and Most Outstanding Meet Performer in 1992...Set school records in the 600-yard run (1:23.14), 600 meters (1:30.85) and 800 meters (2:03.47) indoors and the 800 meters outdoors (2:03.65)...One of EMU's top scholar-athletes and earned an NCAA postgraduate scholarship in 1992...Married to Keith Smith, Sr., a 1992 200-meter Olympian for the U.S. Virgin Islands...Serves as the middle distance/distance and cross country coach of the North Oakland Blue Dragons team.
